Abington Park Veterinary Group is a well-established and successful Small Animal Veterinary Practice based in Northamptonshire. We have three sites offering a high quality first opinion, referral and 24-hour emergency service to our clients and surrounding veterinary practices, and we are about to undertake an expansion at our Moulton site. We currently employ 18 Veterinary Surgeons (including numerous certificate holders in various disciplines) and have a large nursing team, employing around 85 staff in total.
Reporting to the Clinical Directors, we are looking to recruit a Practice Manager to provide leadership and decision making on a day-to-day basis in terms of financial administration and client relationships, ensuring our high standard of client care is maintained. The job holder will also take the lead on Health & Safety, and have responsibility for buildings and equipment maintenance, and stock control.
The ideal candidate will be self-driven, organised, and exhibit a degree of autonomy, enabling day to day decisions to be made to ensure the practice runs smoothly and efficiently at all times with a focus on cost. Strong management, leadership and influencing skills are a must, as is prior experience of budget/debt management and supplier negotiations. Excellent interpersonal skills will be required, not only in terms of line management, but also liaison with our clients and as part of the wider management team.
Whilst experience in the veterinary sector is preferred, it is not essential. Financial and client management, and managing change through excellent communication would be equally valued along with proven leadership and business skills.

Veterinary Surgeon (NIGHTS)
26 hours per week (average)
One of our night vets is moving to day shifts so we have an opportunity for an enthusiastic, self-driven and caring veterinary surgeon to join our well-established emergency night team offering gold standard in emergency and critical care.
Our emergency service covers our own three practices (including our referral service), as well as several nearby client practices. Hours of work will be 8pm – 8am, 7 nights on, 14 off, averaging 26 hours per week. The successful candidate will be working with a veterinary nurse and kennel assistant on site, and providing support to a veterinary nurse at our Moulton Practice Monday – Thursday nights.
Abington Park Veterinary Group is a busy referral and first opinion practice, and we are about to undertake an expansion at our Moulton site. We currently employee 18 Veterinary Surgeons (including numerous certificate holders in various disciplines) and have a large nursing team, employing around 80 staff in total.
Our practices are equipped with a top of the line in house laboratory which allows gold standard emergency and critical care evaluations, including, but not limited to, blood gas, primary and secondary coagulation, d-dimers, osmolality, ketones, ammonia and bile acid. Video endoscopy, advanced doppler ultrasound and digital radiology are also available on site. A CT scanner will be permanently available once the extension is completed in 2018, and is currently available (together with MRI) on a mobile basis every 2 weeks.
The successful candidate will be MRCVS – confident to work in sole charge, able to perform emergency surgery and have excellent communication skills. We are also happy to support candidates working towards a postgraduate certificate.

Registered Veterinary Nurse
40 hrs per week , 12-month Fixed Term contract (maternity cover)

Our dedicated and professional teams at our busy 1st opinion and referral practices within Abington Park Veterinary Group are committed to delivering excellent service. Work will shortly begin to extend our existing Moulton site enabling us to offer advanced imaging along with our medical and surgical referral service, so it is an exciting time to come on board.
We are looking for a nurse to join our Abington practice to support our existing first opinion team. The preferred candidate will be a committed, enthusiastic, and hard-working RVN who is a strong team player keen to improve their skills. This position includes emergency work, critical care nursing and the opportunity to assist in a range of surgical procedures. There will also be the opportunity to become a Clinical Coach.
Hours of work will be Monday – Friday (a mixture of early and late shifts) with 1 weekend day every 4 weeks (corresponding weekday off). Bank holiday working on a rota basis.
A full driving licence is needed as you may be required to drive the practice ambulance to collect animals. Applicants should also be fit enough to cope with the physical demands of the role – lifting/restraining animals and cleaning.

Senior Veterinary Surgeon

Abington Park Veterinary Group have a vacancy for a senior veterinary surgeon to work alongside the existing team to provide care through excellence across our three busy first opinion and referral practices.
The practice has numerous certificate holders in various disciplines and has an excellent in-house laboratory allowing gold standard evaluations. These include, but are not limited to blood gas, primary and secondary coagulation, d-dimers, osmolality, ketones, ammonia and bile acid. Video endoscopy, advanced doppler ultrasound and digital radiology are also available on site with access to CT and MRI scanning.
Candidates must be MRCVS registered (or eligible for registration), have 3 – 5 years relevant experience, excellent English communication skills are also required.
The working pattern will be 40 hours per week working a mixture of early and late shifts Monday to Friday. You will work one week end in three and be given time off during the week to compensate.
